I thought I'd put together some advice to make it easier for you to rehome that cute ball of fur that you found!

This question is important as it is so important that you are ready for the amount of time and effort that you will need to put into your new pet. Rabbits live 10-12 years in the right condition and we want to see all rabbits living in 5 star homes. So make sure that you are 100% ready to make this commitment as I promise, your life will never be the same! (It's all good, I swear ๐)

Rabbits are not the 'starter pet' that a lot of pet shops and some vets claim. Rabbits are not an ideal pet for children and must have an appointed adult caring for them. If properly integrated into the family however, they can make great family members ๐ฐ They will also need regular specialist vet treatment so it is a good idea to make sure you do all the research possible.

Rabbits need companionship and exercise so do best in the middle of the family home, free-roaming in a safe space. If your rabbit is regularly going to be on their own for long periods during the day, I recomment getting them a buddy, which would be neutered and of the opposite sex.

Obviously I will say that the rehoming group is the best place and I do honestly believe that. I try and update all posts with #available_for_rehoming and their location if they are available. I then try and mark them as homed and turn off the post comments when they find a home (but that's not a steadfast rule).

With Facebook rules on contacting strangers, sending a message to them without warning could lead to them missing it in their requests tab. I would advise that you comment that you PM'd to alert them and if that doesn't work, try tagging them in the comment. Unfortunately I don't have direct access to anyone but I will try and bump comments by tagging the owner where I can.

Truthfully, this is different for every bun. I don't have an exact process to follow as it is driven by the owners, old and new. I am here to support you if needed but generally I would suggest doing a bunny date so the new home gets to meet the rabbit and the old owner gets to see the new home & setup. Then, all going well, you arrange a date of transfer. I would also suggest that the old owner sends the new owner an email of all medical info & vet details, with a note that they are transferring ownership.
I really feel that, although this isn't an exact process, that your new rabbit will have a comfortable transition and both sets of owners will be happy that the bun is in safe hands ๐ฐ If you have any questions, drop me a message at the page here.
