Last updated: July 2026
Thank you for choosing Bunny Boarding Retreat. The following terms and conditions ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all animals in our care. By confirming your booking, paying a deposit, or leaving your rabbit with us, you agree to all terms set out below.
1. Bookings, Deposits & Payment Methods
1.1 Deposit & Confirmation: A booking is only secured upon receipt of a non-refundable deposit. Deposits must be paid within 3 days of receiving your booking email to secure your rabbit's place, after which the slot may be released.
1.2 Payment Methods: We accept Revolut (revolut.me/sepamu), Card via Revolut, or Cash on drop-off.
1.3 Payment of Balance: The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to or on the day of drop-off. For bookings made within seven (7) days of arrival, full payment is required immediately.
1.4 Daily Charging Policy: Rates are charged on a per-night basis, including the day of arrival and departure. Confirmed bookings with paid deposits are price-protected at the agreed rate. If your check out time exceeds your check in time, then a prorata hourly rate rate will be charged to your total.
1.5 Early Collections: No refunds or credits will be issued if you collect your rabbit prior to the agreed departure date.
2. Cancellation Policy
2.1 Cancellation by Client:
More than 14 days' notice: Your deposit will be forfeited, but no further balances will be charged. Deposits are non-refundable, especially during peak seasons.
14 days or fewer notice: The full boarding fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
2.2 Cancellation by Us: In the unlikely event that Bunny Boarding Retreat must cancel a booking, all fees paid (including deposits) will be refunded in full.
3. Health, Vaccinations & Neutering
3.1 Health Recommendations: We strongly recommend that all rabbits are neutered (from 6 months onwards) and vaccinated annually against Myxomatosis, R(V)HD1, and R(V)HD2. While unvaccinated or unneutered rabbits may be accepted at our discretion, owners acknowledge that this creates health risks (e.g., airborne disease transmission or accidental pregnancy in females) for which the owner assumes full responsibility.
3.2 Submitting Vaccination Proof: If vaccinated, proof of vaccination (certificate, picture, or email directly from your vet) should be uploaded during booking, emailed, or sent via WhatsApp to 089 448 5149.
3.3 Health Condition & Parasites: Owners must declare pre-existing conditions, injuries, or behavioural issues. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any rabbit showing signs of active infectious illness, extreme matting, or parasite infestation. Fleas or mites or other illnesses discovered during boarding will be treated by our vet at the owner's expense.
3.4 Nail Maintenance: Rabbits must arrive with sufficiently trimmed nails for safety.
Optional nail clipping is available for €6 per rabbit during their stay.
If a rabbit arrives with overgrown nails posing an injury risk to themselves or staff, they may be mandatorily booked and charged for a nail trim.
4. Diet, Medication & Storage
4.1 Food & Pellets: To prevent life-threatening digestive upset (such as GI Stasis), owners must bring enough of their rabbit's regular dry food/pellets and special treats to last the entire stay.
4.2 Hay & Greens: We provide unlimited house hay, fresh water, and daily fresh greens/vegetables. If your rabbit requires a specific brand/type of hay, you are welcome to bring it.
Storage Note: Storage space in the boarding lodge is limited. Please do not bring oversized containers or excessive bags of hay/food.4.3 Medication: Vet-prescribed medication can be administered if declared and agreed upon prior to arrival. All medication must be clearly labelled in its original container with the rabbit's name, dosage, and frequency.
5. Transport Safety & Carrier Policy
5.1 Approved Pet Carriers: All rabbits must arrive in a clean, secure, functional solid plastic pet carrier. Fabric/material carriers are discouraged as rabbits can chew through them and they cannot be sanitised properly. Pets arriving in inappropriate or unsafe containers may be refused boarding.
5.2 Carrier Bedding: Carriers must contain a towel or blanket to give your rabbit traction and prevent injury during transit.
5.3 Retention of Carrier: Carriers must remain at the Retreat for the entire duration of the stay in case emergency transport to the vet is required.
6. Veterinary Care & Liability Disclaimer
6.1 Standard of Care: Animals are checked frequently throughout the day. However, rabbits are delicate animals whose health can decline rapidly.
6.2 Vet Authorisation: In an emergency, we will attempt to contact you or your nominated contact immediately. You authorise Bunny Boarding Retreat to seek veterinary care from our designated vet (or your own vet if practical) whenever deemed necessary.
6.3 Financial Liability: Owners are 100% financially responsible for all veterinary fees, diagnostics, medicines, and transport costs incurred, which must be settled directly or reimbursed upon collection.
6.4 GI Stasis Disclaimer: Boarding is entirely at the owner's risk. We accept no liability for non-negligent illness, parasites, or death—specifically including stress-induced Gastrointestinal (GI) Stasis triggered by travel or a new environment.
7. Facility Access, Safety & Communication
7.1 Drop-Off & Collection Location: Located at 11 Earlsfort Close, Lucan, Co. Dublin (Eircode: K78 K599).
7.2 Appointment Punctuality: Drop-offs and collections are strictly by appointment. Please arrive as close to your agreed time slot as possible. If running early or late, notify us via WhatsApp at 089 448 5149.
7.3 Front Door Handover: Drop-offs take place at the front door, unless it is your rabbit’s first visit and a lodge viewing was arranged.
7.4 Children Policy: For safety reasons, children are not permitted inside the boarding lodge. If visiting for a first-time viewing, please ensure children say their goodbyes prior to drop-off.
7.5 Updates: We aim to provide an initial welfare update within 48 hours of arrival. During peak times, updates may be slightly delayed. A second update may be sent toward the end of the stay depending on schedule availability.
8. Uncollected Pets (Abandonment)
8.1 Abandonment Period: If a rabbit is not collected within 7 days of the agreed collection date without contact from the owner or emergency contact, the rabbit will be deemed legally abandoned.
8.2 Re-homing: We reserve the right to surrender abandoned animals to a rescue shelter or arrange re-homing. Any incurred expenses will be legally pursued.
9. Data Protection (GDPR)
9.1 Personal Information: Personal details are kept secure and used strictly for business operations and booking management. Data will never be shared with third parties, except attending veterinarians in an emergency. If you wish to stop any communications via email or SMS, please email sean@bunnyboarding.ie.
Our Hygiene & Sanitation Standards
At Bunny Boarding Retreat, your rabbit's health, safety, and comfort are our highest priorities. Because rabbits are sensitive animals susceptible to respiratory issues and infections, we maintain rigorous cleaning protocols designed specifically for small animals.
Here is a look at how we prepare our lodge and care for your pet’s space every single day:
Deep Cleaning & Disinfection (Between Guests)
Before any new guest arrives, their suite undergoes a complete 6-step deep clean to eliminate pathogens and ensure a fresh, safe environment:
Complete Strip-Out: All bedding, hideaways, toys, litter trays, and feeding dishes from the previous guest are removed and fully sanitised or replaced.
Organic Material Removal: We thoroughly sweep and vacuum every surface. Disinfectants cannot work through dust, hay, or droppings, so physical cleaning always comes first.
Scrubbing Surfaces: Enclosure walls and floors are washed with warm, soapy water to remove any dried urine, dust, or dirt.
Disinfection: We apply rabbit-safe disinfectants specifically proven to kill airborne pathogens, bacteria, and viruses.
Dwell Time: We allow the disinfectant to sit wet for the full required contact time (5–10 minutes) to ensure complete sanitation.
Rinse & Full Air Dry: Surfaces are wiped down and allowed to air-dry completely before new bedding is added. A completely dry environment prevents any fungal or bacterial growth.
Daily Housekeeping (During Your Pet’s Stay)
To keep stress levels low while maintaining pristine hygiene, we perform gentle daily maintenance while your rabbit settles in:
Spot-Cleaning Litter Trays: Litter boxes are scooped daily to remove wet litter and droppings, then topped up with fresh hay and absorbable paper pellets.
Fresh Water & Clean Dishes: Ceramic food bowls and water bottles/bowls are washed daily in high-heat, soapy water to ensure your pet always has clean supplies.
Daily Sweeping: Living areas are swept daily to keep hay loose, dry, and clean for lounging.
Ammonia & Odour Control: We actively prevent urine buildup to eliminate ammonia odours, protecting your rabbit's delicate upper respiratory system (and preventing conditions like snuffles).
Rest easy knowing your rabbit is staying in a sparkling clean, safe, and thoughtfully maintained home away from home!
